If you are making the application and are unsure what to include please see some general tips below to get started.
Consider your Leaving Certificate subjects and how these might be relevant, for example for those doing construction studies think of what you have covered in Health and Safety in the workshop, what tools or equipment you have used. Think about modules in maths or physics that are relevant to the role.
Think about any employment or experience you have. Reflect on how this has developed your ability to be proactive, build your diligence, and allowed you to experience professional teamwork. Perhaps you have gained insight into what good customer service means. Also if you have experience working at heights or with any type of machinery, tools and or chemicals make sure to bring this into your application.
Hobbies and Interests helps us to develop professional skills so reflect on your hobbies and interests, particularly how they have made you the person you are and have fostered your personality. For example have you played lead guitar in a band, did you take on the role of lead in a school play, have you played team sport, have you produced a fabulous piece of hard work that took patience and endurance. All this is very relevant.
Try to include your understanding of the apprenticeship role and what is expected of you. Consider what you know about ESB network and their vision for the future. Don’t just copy and paste this from their website, put your understanding about it into your application form.
The main thing is be yourself and let your personality come through.
